Montanov 202

Ingredient Summary

Montanov 202 is a completely natural 100%, palm-free emulsifier that creates oil-in-water mixtures.  Made from fatty alcohols sourced from rapeseed, it is also easily biodegradable. Montanov 202 works well with pigments and is non-ionic, allowing it to blend with all kinds of active ingredients. Additionally, it helps produce glossy emulsions that transition from fluid to cream.

This ingredient is versatile and can create different textures, from liquid to cream, giving a light sensation and a matte look. It encourages the formation of liquid crystals and layered structures, which help keep the emulsion stable while adding extra moisture and support for the skin. Montanov 202 allows for the creation of biomimetic textures that imitate the lipids in the outer skin layer, improving the arrangement of skin lipids after application.

How to use it

Add Montanov 202 to your oil phase. Heat both phases (water and oil) to 85°C and mix the ingredients well before combining the oil phase with the water phase. While the mixture is warm, use high shear or an immersion blender to mix. Avoid high-shear mixing once the formulation cools; instead, gently stir to maintain the liquid crystal structure. 

Do NOT use a cold-water bath to cool the mixture quickly.

Sugestions

Montanov 202 We recommend using a water phase thickener to aid stability and increase the thickness of the cream. Combine with Montanov 68 if you want a slightly denser cream. If you want a richer, thicker cream, rather than increase the amount of emulsifier, add 1% cetyl alcohol to your oil phase,
